Something Called as My Music Room

ontrary to popular belief, I did sing in my university time. You won't find anything here but old records of my voice that made hit in 1999. Alright, alright, bluffing. It was the year of my singing career. On the same year I graduated, and never practice singing nor acting again. And so I grow as fat ugly ducking until now, quack, quack! (in your dream!). Sad fact the work takes its toll? Well, not really. Now I do modelling in my spare time ;-)

or my showroom?

mysongs

A snapshot for MySongs If you ever wonder of the background music, it's from a midi (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) file. There are about 600 midi files and almost twice of that number for lyric, arranged in mysongs.hlp help file, like the picture on the right. If you're too much familiar with midi sites, then the difference with mine, is they're packed, easily searchable, and each lyric directly associated to a midi file inside it. (Arghhh! Horrible marketing talent!)

Don't put your xpectation too high, though. This is just a personal collection. Only songs I like are there. Most of them are from romantic genre. Blame the composer!

It should be like the picture on the right when you run MySongs. Like it, download here for 7MB. If you skip the flash on the top, here is the link.

This should run in Windows 95/98, 2000, XP by default. If you are running on Vista, you should download Windows Help program (WinHlp32.exe) for Windows Vista (KB917607)

chit-chat

while you're downloading or while you're downgrading your opinion about my home, you can play midi file from my radio. Click here if you haven't done so. Not many choices there.

I like music so much. Fond of the lyrics of the song, the notes written, and the quality of the singer's voice. Rarely found in popular Indonesian songs nowadays. Dangdut? No way!

do i hate indonesian song?

I do like Indonesian songs, but most Indonesian pop songs (I said, no dangdut) are quite illogical. You might say because that's in my mother tongue which I'm keen and easily be drifted in meaning. Surely not because I don't love my own language.

ccf, classicFM, BBC3 - the musical savior

When my home was near Centres Culturels Français (CCF) at Bandung (1995 - 1999), I used to watch music recital. Piano concert, soprano show, cello concert, etc. Thanks to people at CCF, couldn't afford tickets for the music recital. I remember a cello player, named Rene from Dutch. He gave prologue before Fantasiestucke Opus 73. He said, "Lagu ini sedih, bisa menangis. Tetapi karena itu, four years later, he jumped ke sungai." (in complete english: "This is a sad song, you can cry when you hear this. Blame this song, because four years later, he jumped to the river.")

Oh, well. Too much appreciation on music can make you out of mind. At least can bring our memory back to something that once we did with that music around. Hearing a soprano sings, makes me want to be a soprano. Hearing my university's mars, made me want to be a good college student. It is uncountable how many times I have forgotten about my screwed up exams, screwed works simply by singing on the next hour. Hearing Indonesian Anthem, Indonesia Raya, sung for gold medal in badminton in the Athen Olympiade 2004 from tv, I cried :'-)

it's all about money, dum dum dum, doo doo bi doo

Music is expensive :-/ I have stopped going to London Royal Albert Hall :-D Don't feel like I belong there, sigh. Different class of society :(
Don't like going on crowded music festival either.
Don't like going to gig in a bar either. Different class of society ;(
Oh, I must tell you this story. Once day in September 2008 I think, a popular Indonesian band made a fans-gathering at Indonesian Embassy London. As usual the Embassy served Indonesian snacks. I like the band, I like their music, but Indonesian food is the main attraction. I didn't know how they look like though.

So, I came there, full of fans. Found a spot near the main room where they were about to give interview. Busy talked with a friend, and then the so-long-waiting band came to the room, smiling at us. We ignored them. They were so upset!

While in the student chorus at my university, sometimes we coordinated ticket sale for concert performed by famous musician. The ticket was so dear, thus when there were cheaper tickets for handycap, everyone was happy riding in a wheel-chair. Neah, just an old joke :) I'd love to go to the concert, I love the concert gown. Except that the finance-consciousness disallows me to do so!

the power of midi files

Other Use of Midi File.... Yes, there is. And it's pretty great. You can get ballot notes, each of different musical instrument tracks from it. How? Check out Midi View at this site. I can have the complete music sheet for That's Why (You Go Away) using this software for grand piano.

spinning yet? wish to disappear?

Well, until then. Happy singing!
